In April 2009, the Border AIDS Partnership distributed $180,638 to support nine programs in our region.

During the Wednesday, April 7, 2010 Grant Presentation Ceremony, the following ten HIV / AIDS education and prevention programs received a total of $138,000 in grants from the Border AIDS Partnership during a check presentation. This is the 14th year that the Partnership has distributed grants to local organizations. This year's recipients are listed below:

Intl' AIDS Empowerment, IncInternational AIDS Empowerment, Inc.
Continuum of HIV Prevention Program.  Begins with testing – continues with primary care and support services.  Provides secondary prevention and treatment education and provides training for outreach workers in the public schools.  Process is continual. Richard Testing at our offices at 800 Montana Ave.





University Medical Center of El Paso (formerly Thomason Hospital)
TAB-CARES (Peer Education Training Program) Peer educators will provide HIV/AIDS education to the young people of our community. Since 1990, TAB-Cares has targeted youth to help reduce risky behaviors. Trained teenagers become peer educators and present HIV/AIDS education and prevention information at their schools and to community groups.

Opportunity Center for the Homeless
Homeless AIDS Initiative.  Provide educational services to homeless persons at the Emergency Night Shelter and other facilities/programs as it relates to HIV/AIDS.

Grupo de Apoyo H.I.Vida
Alcance a Jovenes Homosexuales (Outreach to Homosexual Youth) Peer education and outreach to young gay population in Juarez, ages 14-35, to promote safe behavior.

Centro Caritativo Para Atencion de Enfermos de SIDA
Prevention Interactive.  A program to give hope and shelter to the marginalized suffering from HIV/AIDS in the border city of Ciudad Juarez.  The program provides shelter, care, HIV/AIDS education and life changing empowerment programs for marginalized mothers, youth and residents affected  with HIV/AIDS.

Programa Companeros International
De mujer a mujer (From woman to women) Outreach program provided by women for women to offer services in education/prevention to women on both sides of the US/Mexico border.

Harm Reduction for Injection Drug Users. HIV/AIDS education, prevention and access to clean syringes for injection drug users.

Families and Youth Inc.Families & Youth, Inc.
Mujeres Unidas en Accion Contra El Sida (Women United in Action Against AIDS) HIV/AIDS/STI prevention and education for women and their families in Sunland Park, Anapra, Anthony and Santa Teresa.

 

Center Against Family Violence
HIV, Health and Hope Initiative (H3 Initiative)
HIV/AIDS education, prevention and information to survivors of domestic violence.


Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy CenterLas Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center
HIV/AIDS Educational Outreach for Immigrants.  The HIV/AIDS Education/Prevention Project reaches out to one of the most vulnerable populations in the US and specifically the El Paso region. The Spanish speaking immigrant population.
